Introduction:

Bleeding:

Bleeding is defined as the loss of blood. The organs and blood vessels contain blood. If any of these is damaged, blood can flow freely inside or outside the body.

Internal bleeding occurs when blood leaks out through a damaged blood vessel or organ. External bleeding happens when blood exits through a break in the skin. Or it also happens when blood exits through a natural opening in the body, such as the:

• mouth
• vagina
• rectum
• nose

Causes:

Bleeding is a common symptom. A variety of incidents or conditions can cause bleeding. Possible causes include:

• Damage to a blood vessel.
• Clotting factors.
• Certain medications.
• Chronic high blood pressure.
• Inherited bleeding disorders.
• Surgery.

A wide variety of disease cause bleeding. Some of the most common are leukemia, lung cancer, acute bronchitis, and liver disease. Medications, such as blood thinners may also cause bleeding.

Indications:

Hemorrhage may be due to hurt, injury or trauma. Masood?s HR 45 is affected in all types of hemorrhage, cerebral hemorrhage, blood extravasations, metrorrhagia, epistaxis etc.

Pharmacology:

Hemostasis?is the human body?s response to blood vessel injury and bleeding. It involves a coordinated effort between platelets and numerous blood clotting proteins (or factors), resulting in the formation of a blood clot and subsequent stopping of the bleed.HR 45 contains Hamamelis virg in which tannins have astringent, anti-inflammatory and Haemostatis effect. HR 45 is effectively used to stop bleeding in hemorrhoids, inflammation of the skin, wounds and burns. HR 45 contains Achillea millefolium which has cholagogue activity due to the guaianolide and germacranolide, and proazulene fraction has anti-edema and anti-inflammatory effects. HR 45 contains Hypericum perforatum which have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and Haemostatis properties. Hr 45 also contains Arnica which has wound healing, antiseptic, antimicrobial and mild analgesic properties, thus reduce the inflammation and modify immune system response by inhibition of the immune complement system and a marked enhancement of phagocytic activity.

Formula:

Each 1ml contains:

• Arnica mont 3D 10% v/v
• Hamamelis virg 1D 20% v/v
• Millefolium 1D 30% v/v
• Secale cor 3D 10% v/v
• Trillium pend 3D 10% v/v

With excipients q.s.

Formula with properties:

Arnica Mont 3D: It is especially suited to cases when any injury, however remote, seems to have caused the present trouble. Controls the blood pressure.

Hamamelis virg 1D: Passive venous haemorrhages from any part. Great value in open, painful wounds, with weakness from loss of blood. After operations.

Millefolium 1D: An invaluable remedy for various types of haemorrhages; blood bright red: After operations for stone. Haemorrhages from bowels and lungs. Nosebleed, Hemorrhage from bowels. Bleeding hemorrhoids. Urine bloody.

Secale cor 3D: Haemorrhages; continued oozing; thin, fetid, watery black blood. Debility, anxiety, emaciation, though appetite and thirst may be excessive.

Trillium pend 3D: A general haemorrhagic medicine.

Dosage: 15-20 drops every 2-3 hours with fresh water under acute conditions. Less frequently when improvement starts i.e. 3 times a day.
