Abrotanum

Abrotanum is like a tonic and is indicated in marasmus of children. It has diuretic, anthelmintic and diaphoretic properties. It is also useful in cases o rheumatism and gout when there is great lameness and soreness. When Abrotanum is indicated in marasmus, the child is irritable and there are dark circles about the eyes. The appetite is ravenous and yet the child keeps becoming ever more emaciated. The lower extremities shows the greatest emaciation. This remedy should also be considered in tuberculosis peritonitis.
