Introduction:

Leucorrhoea:

Leucorrhoea is a flow of a whitish, yellowish, or greenish discharge from the vagina that may be normal or that may be a sign of infection.

Generally, this white discharge helps in flushing out bacteria and other microbes that enter the body. Discharge is generally, pale white or clear in color and odorless, but at times, If the composition has desquamated epithelium and mucus, then the color of the discharge is bluish-white, it is yellow and greenish yellow due to pus and bacteria. It can also be a chocolate color or blood-colored due to old or fresh blood.

Types:

These are the?two types?of leucorrhoea:

• Physiological leucorrhoea:?In this condition, there is an excessive discharge or secretion from a normal vagina. This generally occurs in teenage girls when there is a hormonal imbalance.
• Pathological leucorrhoea:?Pathological leucorrhoea is caused by a malfunction or disease in the female reproductive tract.

Causes:

Common?causes?of leucorrhoea include the following:

• Poor hygiene and diseases:?Unhygienic conditions, especially during days of the menstrual cycle, can lead to leucorrhoea. The presence of other diseases in the body can lower immunity and make the body susceptible to infections and subsequent discharge.
• Injury:?Any injury or infections in the vagina or womb
• Infections:?Bacterial, fungal or parasitic infections in the vaginal
• Intrauterine contraceptive device:?The use of IUCD?s sometimes causes irritation and discharge in females.

Symptoms:

• Foul smell from vaginal discharge is a common symptom
• Fatigue
• Stomach cramps or pain

• Constipation
• Pain in the calves and lumbar region

Indications:

Leucorrhea is commonly known as whites, refers to whitish discharge from the female genitals. The vaginal discharge plays an important role in maintaining a healthy vagina. There are two types of leucorrhea physiological leucorrhea and pathological leucorrhea. The main causes of leucorrhea include general ill health, and under nutrition, dysfunctional state in genital state, and psychological factors. Patients suffering from leucorrhea feel weak and tired; they also suffer from pain in the lumbar region and calves, and dragging sensation in abdomen. Other symptoms are constipation, frequent headache and intense itching. In the chronic case patient feels irritability, and develops black patches under the eyes. Masood?s HR 46 is affective in all the signs/ Symptoms and causes of leucorrhea.

Pharmacology:

HR 46 contains allium sativa in which active ingredients are alliin, allinase, allicin, vitamins A, B, C, it is considered to be an anthelmintic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, cholagogue, diaphoretic, diuretic, expectorant, febrifuge, stimulant, stomachic, tonic and vasodilator, garlic is very helpful in cases of bacterial and fungal infections. It is very helpful in cases of candida, vaginitis, leucorrhea and thrush. It relieves the pain of lumbar region and dragging sensation in abdomen. HR 46 also contains berberis vulgaris which is considered to be antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, hypertensive, haemostatic, diuretic and vasodilator, due to its constituent berberine, barberry can act as a very efficient remedy against bacterial, viral, fungal and parasitic infections. HR 46 contains glycyrrhiza in which useful ingredients like anethole, glycyrrhizin, glycyrrhizic acid, saponins, coumarins, sterols, choline, triterpenoids, lignins, amino acids, folic acid, lecithin, pantothenic acid, phosphorous, pentacyclic terpenes, protein, sugar, vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6 and? E? are very useful in? addition to antibiotic treatment of leucorrhea. It neutralizes many toxins. It has strong anti-inflammatory actions. Hydrastis can in Hr 49 have disinfectant properties. Hydrastis contains berberine and hydrastine which have a broad-spectrum antibacterial and antiviral action. Each 1ml contains:

• Allium Sativa 1D 10% v/v
• Berberis Vulg 1D 20% v/v
• Glycyrrhiza Glabra 1D 20% v/v
• Hydrastis Can 1D 40% v/v
• Sepia 3D 10% v/v

With excipients q.s.

Formula with properties:

Allium Sativa 1D: Pain in swelling of breasts. Eruption in vagina and on breasts and vulva during menses.

Berberis Vulg 1D: Leucorrhoea, greyish mucus, with painful urinary symptoms. Neuralgia of ovaries and vagina.

Glycyrrhiza Glabra 1D: leucorrhoea with irritation and burning in vulva.

Hydrastis Can 1D: Erosion and excoriation of cervix. Leucorrhoea, worse after menses

Sepia 3D: Leucorrhoea yellow, greenish; with much itching. Menses Too late, painful and scanty.

Dosage Directions for use

Dosage: 20-25 drops every 2-3 hours with fresh water under acute conditions. Less frequently when improvement starts, i.e. three times a day.
