Hyperthyroidism:
The thyroid gland is a small, butterfly-shaped gland located at the front of neck. It produces tetra iodothyronine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3), which are two primary hormones that control how cells use energy. Thyroid gland regulates metabolism through the release of these hormones.
Hyperthyroidism is a condition of the thyroid. Hyperthyroidism occurs when the thyroid makes too much T4, T3, or both.
Causes:
Several factors can cause hyperthyroidism.
- Graves? disease: It is an autoimmune condition.
- Nodular thyroid disease: Lumps, known as nodules, develop in the thyroid gland. It is unclear why they develop.
- Excessive iodine intake: The thyroid gland removes iodine from the blood. Iodine comes from foods such as seafood, bread, and salt. The thyroid gland uses the iodine to produce thyroid hormones.
- Medications: Some medications used in the treatment of heart problems contain a large amount of iodine. They may trigger changes in thyroid function.
- Thyroiditis: An inflammation of the thyroid that often results from a viral infection. Symptoms include fever, sore throat, painful swallowing, generalized aches, and pains in the neck.
- Follicular thyroid cancer: In rare cases, overactive thyroid can be caused by thyroid cancer.
Symptoms:
Common symptoms of hyperthyroidism include:
- Appetite change (decrease or increase)
- Difficulty sleeping (insomnia)
- Fatigue
- Heart palpitations
- Heat intolerance
- Increased sweating
- Mental disturbances
- Muscle weakness
- Shortness of breath
- Vision changes
- Weight loss-but perhaps weight gain
Indications:
Thyrotoxicosis is a syndrome caused by an excess of free thyroid hormones. The symptoms and signs depend upon the degree of elevation of hormones, the length of time, the rate at which the hormone level rose, and individual variation of patients.Common symptoms of thyrotoxicosis include excessive sweating, heat tolerance, increased bowel movements, tremor, rapid heart rate, weight loss, fatigue, and depressed, decreased concentration, irregular and scanty menstrual flow. Masood?s HR 51 removes all the causes and symptoms of thyrotoxicosis.
Pharmacology:
HR 52 has hyperthyroidism prevention activity. HR 52 has Ameliorating effects, on the L-thyroxine (L-T4) induced hyperthyroidism and on hepatic lipid peroxidation. While an increase in serum T3 (triiodothyronine) and T4 (thyroxine) concentrations, and in a thyroid dependent parameter, hepatic glucose 6-phospatase (glu-6-pase) activity was observed in L-T4, in hyperthyroid individual it reduced T3 and T4 concentrations by 64 and 70%. HR 52 also decreases hepatic lipid peroxidation (LPO) and increases the superoxide dismutase (SOD) and a catalase (CAT) activity in hyperthyroidism, HR 52 exhibits its hepatoprotective naturally. HR 52 potentially ameliorates the hyperthyroidism with an additional hepatoprotective benefit.

Formula with properties:
Cactus Grand 1D: Constriction of oesophagus. Dryness of tongue, as if burnt; needs much liquid to get food down. Suffocative constriction at throat.
Embelica Off 1D: hyperthyroidism and its associated symptoms like palpitation, excessive perspiration, weight loss, anxiety and protruded eyes.
Lycopus Virg 1D: Beneficial in toxic goitre used in the pre-operative stage. Goiter with protruded eyes, wheezing and suffocation.
Scutellaria Lat 1D: Eyes feel pressed outwards. Aching in eyeballs. Nausea and severe suffocation.
Spongia Tosta 1D: Thyroid gland swollen. Stitches and dryness. Burning and stinging. Sore throat. Clears throat constantly.
Valeriana Off 1D: goiter and its associated symptoms i.e. palpitation, perspiration weight loss, Pharynx feels constricted and protruded eyes etc.
