Common Name:?Shilajit
Botanical Name: Asphaltum
Shilajit (or Asphaltum) is a natural multicomponent mineral commonly found in mountain rocks, primarily in Russia, Tibet, the Himalayan ranges, Norway, Bhutan, Nepal, Afghanistan, China, and Pakistan. It was formed over centuries through the natural decomposition of certain plants under the action of microorganisms.
Asphaltum contains triterpenes, sterols, aromatic carboxylic acids, 3,4-benzocoumarins, fulvic acid, humic acid, and dibenzopyrones. Humic acids and fulvic acid make up a significant portion (60?80%) of Shilajit and contain a wide range of minerals, including copper, silver, zinc, iron, lead, and many others. Additionally, it consists of various organic compounds derived from fossils that remained compressed under layers of rock for hundreds of years under high temperature and pressure conditions.
