TEREBINTHINA

The common name of Terebinthina is Oil of Turpentine, a colourless limpid mobile liquid. It is obtained by distillation and rectification of the oleo-resin of Pinus Palustris Miller and from other species of Pinus family. Turpentine as a remedy, was introduced by Hartlaub and Trinks but proved by Seidel. The mother tincture is prepare from purified oil of turpentine and dilution from it. This remedy has a special action on urinary symptoms such as irritable bladder, nephritis, cystitis, urethritis, tenesmus and albuminuria. It is also employed in colitis. It is useful for unbroken chilblains but in lower dilutions.
